10月4日 Woot! Crap - October 2008Yay! Just got my 3 Craps from Woot! today!
Thanks, Woot! 12月7日 Brownsville Highway Washout - December 2007December has been quite interesting so far. From December 2nd through the 3rd, the weather station at my house recorded 7.48" of rain. That much rain caused widespread damage to the area and apparently knocked out Brownsville Highway near my house.
Here are some pictures I took starting at the south end of Brownsville Highway as I headed toward the sinkhole. Road ClosedUp near Waaga Way (Highway 303) where Brownsville Highway terminates were a number of Road Closed signs. In the newly renovated area where they added a salmon passage under the road, there was an obvious section of the hillside that was eroded away as water headed downstream. On the other side of the road, there was a lot of erosion heading back down into the salmon passage that indicated that the water must have been flowing over the road. MudflatsBetween the salmon passage and before the bottom of the hill where the sinkhole was, there was a whole section of the wooded area that was covered in mud. The dirt and debris washed down from further uphill was dropped here as it found its way to the Brownsville Marina. What seemed weird is even further down the road from the blocked off section and Road Closed sings was another set of Road Closed signs. Maybe the second set of signs is if someone passed the first one. They'd be sure to turn around if they saw a second set! SinkholeJust around the bend in the S-curve was the cause of the Road Closed signs. A sinkhole has eaten away at nearly half the road. Pipes and cables could be seen underneath the rubble of the road beside the twisted side barrier. 2月26日 Creepy, Eerie, Empty HouseKylie is at Grandma/Poppy's for the night. Shannon is recovering in the hospital after an emergency surgery. I'm home alone.
What a creepy feeling. 2月8日 Commercial in Lost: Not in PortlandDid anyone see the weird commercial in last night's episode of Lost, Not in Portland? Hard to tell what it was for until they got to the point where someone would go halfway around the world. It also was cut off abruptly and into the "stoner" Jack-in-the-Box commercial. I'm kinda surprised that I can't find a mention of it at Lostpedia. I'll have to replay it and get a transcript. Articulate?I just don't get it. I've used this word a number of times to describe people. Maybe the context in which Biden used it was a little curious, but I just don't understand the uproar over the use of the word articulate. It seems that everyone in the media is talking about it and I am just aghast there is such a stir about it. It seems that if someone exudes characteristics which are obvious, having someone describe you in such a way is offensive. Bonus points if someone else makes generalizations about groups of people and those characteristics are atypical of the group. People read into things way too much. This reminds me of when the other word came up a few years back. While that word sounds and looks horrible, it is a shame to get all worked up over it when its meaning and context were begin. Political correctness gone amok. For some reason, the following dialog from The Matrix Revolutions came to mind. Isn't quite the same thing, but curiously similar. Neo: I just have never... |
